Flowers are simple, elegant, pure white with striking yellow stamens, flowers up to 8 cm in diameter. The plants feature highly decorative, finely cut foliage and grow to a height of approximately 50 cm. The autumn coloration of the plants is magnificent - the leaves are golden-yellow to orange, and the stems are a vibrant red. Native to the Himalayas, this peony grows in bushes on dry or rocky slopes. Plant in a sheltered, semi-shaded spot with neutral to calcareous soil. It is also well-suited to the back of perennial borders.

CHALICE (Saunders 1929)
A hybrid of P. lactiflora × P. macrophylla with large, single flowers (15–20 cm in diameter) ranging from creamy to pure white. The centers feature silky, golden stamens with a red to purple tint at the base. This is a very early-blooming peony, often flowering as early as May. It has large, glossy, fresh-green foliage and reaches a height of 80 cm.

The flowers are large, semi-double, and bowl-shaped, with a rich, light purple (lilac) hue and wavy petals. It blooms slightly later than the 'First Arrival' peony and produces a large number of side buds, which significantly extends the flowering period.
